For instance, in environmental protection, safeguarding indigenous peoples’ rights, or protecting workers.

These rights ensure the interests of entire groups, such as unions, indigenous communities, or social minorities. They are especially important for indigenous communities, securing rights like protecting natural resources or preserving language and culture.

Unlike individual rights, which protect each person separately – such as the right to life, freedom of expression, or private property – collective rights focus on solutions that benefit the group as a whole.

Today, collective rights play a key role in:

1. Labor rights: promoting collective bargaining, supporting joint employment contracts, and protecting the right to strike, ensuring fairer working conditions.
2. Environmental protection: allowing communities to demand action against pollution, deforestation, or climate change, safeguarding natural resources.
3. Human rights defense: strengthening the ability of vulnerable groups – women, minorities, or refugees – to seek justice and assert their rights collectively
